And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.
And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear,
but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.
Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins. (Is 11:2-5)
This is Salvation. This shoot from the stump of Jesse, will bring destruction to the wicked and he will ‘recover the remnant that remains of his people’.
Son of God…Son of man, he came from the glory of heaven to an offensive sin-filled earth. He delighted to do His father’s will. He came not to do his will, but the will of His father…the LORD.
There is much in this life I want; there is much I think I deserve. There is still much reckoning to be done with my flesh. However – the reality…the sure and certain reality is that ‘I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.’ Jesus Christ now lives in me and ‘his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD’ and so too, then…shall my delight be.
How? How can I delight in the fear of the LORD? ‘And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.’
Living by faith – the glorious Gospel has always been by grace through faith. He…Jesus, did not walk/judge according to what he saw or heard. Rather, He walked/judged by righteousness and faithfulness (as prophesied by Isaiah). By His grace and because Christ lives in me…His Spirit leading and empowering me by faith and by the Word, I too walk in righteousness and faithfulness.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Cor 3:17,18
Blessed be the the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen! (Psalm 72:18-19)
