Today has been my ‘sleep in’ day…after too many short nights, I stayed in bed a bit later than usual and rested. Since then my day has been an enjoyment. I’ve been preparing the pool for closing…vacuuming, chemicals, pool stairs and in a few hours we’ll pull the cover on and tie it down for the winter. I’ve been cooling/drying off from the humidity of today by coming downstairs to my desk and enjoying some musical video clips from various people, especially the Gaither Vocal Band, whom I enjoy greatly.
This one I’m posting just for fun, but their wonderful harmony reminds me to consider the call the church has to unity…there is one body and one Spirit,
There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:4-6)
And as we each pursue godliness, as we each follow hard after Jesus Christ, we are brought into unity by His spirit.
Harmony…that may be something we have when all the cylinders are firing…when all the parts of the body are working together…when the body is healthy and we are, together, hating sin and loving Christ.
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:15-16)
But that doesn’t always seem to be the case, does it? And when it doesn’t seem to be happening we really need to cling to the Cross and pray for wisdom and power from above to change us and and to bring glory to God even if He leaves the offending obstacle in place.
Today, I’m praising God for His mighty working, his steadfast love and his grace towards his body, the church – He changes us from offending obstacles to trophies of His grace. Glory, glory, glory!
