Don’t Waste Your Pulpit

“The best way to waste your pulpit is to preach your own thoughts instead of preaching God’s thoughts.”

How many people expend themselves to find the BEST way to do their very worst?  Silly right?!  Ridiculous…right?

But isn’t that our dilemma… isn’t that our folly to follow what we think is the right way… irrespective of the compass that is pointing 180 degrees in the other direction?

God came to save us from all of such foolishness/sin.  He gave the Law, He gave the prophets, He gave the Prophet, Priest and King… Jesus Christ.  He gave us the Word…

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…” “that which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life – the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us…” (John 1, 1 John 1)

Yet it is too often (once is too often, but we err far beyond that) that the Word is humiliated and human thought is exalted.  This is the antithesis of God-centered worship.

  1. I’ve heard this before and it’s so very good. Hopefully I’ve been learning this little by little as I get older. I want to be “Bible-saturated”; keep my preaching/teaching centered on Christ and His Gospel.
