When we don’t feel like reading and meditating on God’s word, when we sit/stand in a worship service and don’t worship, when we gather to pray and won’t offer up even a quiet word of surrender, is our fall back defense still to lay blame on another?
“The man(Adam) said, ‘The woman(Eve) whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.’ ” (Gen3:12)
- We have God’s word and we are still free to openly read it.
- We have Christ-adoring cross-centered worship music to sing, regardless of our style preferences.
- We are free to pray alone with God and we are still free to gather with others to pray.
Can we really blame God? Will we point the finger at the preacher? Will we accost the worship leader? Will we refuse to pray and push away from the fellowship and dependence we have in Jesus Christ and share in with the body of Christ, the church?
Whose fault will it be today that you will not worship the Holy One?
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:22-24 ESV)
